# HLP vault

> HLP is Hyperliquid's community-owned protocol vault that provides liquidity and performs liquidations.

HLP (Hyper Liquidity Provider) is Hyperliquid’s main protocol vault and one of the two [Liquid Earn](/earn/what-is-liquid-earn) programs. Unlike a user-run vault, HLP is a protocol-managed, community-owned vault that helps power the exchange itself.

## HLP functions

* Provides liquidity to Hyperliquid through multiple market-making strategies
* Takes over positions in [backstop liquidations](/trading/liquidations#what-happens-during-a-liquidation)
* Accrues a portion of trading fees

## Deposit

    On **Home**, open **For You** and scroll to **Earn**. Tap **HLP Vault**, then **Deposit**. The screen shows your balance, the current APY and the vault's APY history.

    Web is moving vaults into [Liquid Earn](/earn/what-is-liquid-earn). Click **Earn** in the top bar and use the **Still using the classic Vaults?** link at the bottom to reach HLP at `/vault`. If you already hold an HLP balance, use **Migrate to Earn**.

## Limits and lock-up

* Minimum deposit: \$5.
* Minimum withdrawal: \$10.
* HLP has a 4-day deposit lock-up: withdrawals become available 4 days after your most recent deposit.
